Employer Nomination Scheme allows Australian employers to find a foreign candidate and sponsor his stay in Australia. It is treated as a visa for permanent residency. There are various perks for this visa.
It allows the visa holder to stay there permanently, study and work there, get enrolled in medicare, travel to and fro from Australia, allow to sponsor relatives for Australia visas, and most importantly, it allows to apply for citizenship.
Employer Nomination Scheme has three streams:

Temporary residence transition:
This is for the ones who have a Temporary Work Visa. The employer can further sponsor for the stay of the visa holder.
For approval into the same, the employer should have no criminal records against him. He should stay active and operate lawfully. Also, he should have followed the obligations as under subclass 457 sponsor and have the requisite training.
The visa holder’s position must not be part-time and the work experience should not be less than 2 years or the position as from the previously approved visa and the market rate and conditions should be met by the visa holder.
Moreover, the applicant should be fluent in English, should be physically fit and should have a visa of subclass 457 for a specific position.
This entry is for the ones who do not fit into the above-mentioned requirements.
Here, the employer should have the requisite training, should have no prior criminal record and there should not be any adverse knowledge against it.
The position must not be fake and should be listed in the consolidated skilled occupation list. It should be full time and should be for a minimum of two years from the visa granting date.
The one who is applying for a visa should be less than 50 years old. Other requisite qualities are fluency in English, 3 years of work experience, should be medically fit and meet character requirements.
This is for those individuals who are employed by someone who has negotiated for a labor agreement with the government of Australia.
The skills required by the applicant are as per the mentioned terms of the agreement.
However, the list just states the bare minimum requirements in various streams. There are many other things also which are considered before entering into an employer nomination scheme.
