Canada Focuses on Modernizing Its Immigration Process
Canada is putting efforts to modernize its immigration process so that a maximum number of immigrants can work and settle in Canada as permanent residents. After the Covid-19 pandemic, Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) have been facing a backlog, hence leading to this crucial step forward. In October 2022, IRCC demonstrated their e IRCC Digital Modernization plan to the immigration representatives.
In order to uplift Canada’s system of processing immigrant applications, $428.9 million will be utilized over 5 years to create a digital platform, replacing the earlier Global Case Management System (GCMS). Moreover, they have introduced a PR application tracker to help the applicant navigate through the process. IRCC aims to update some of the existing procedures, by conducting more online or telephonic interviews.

The last stage ending in December 2026 will enable all the activities on the digital platform. The aim is to build an effective system that can remove all delaying elements from the application process.
