Here is How You can Renew your Work Permit in Canada while staying in Canada!
The good news is that you can continue staying in Canada after you apply to renew your work permit while Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) is processing it. However, you must apply for the renewal of the work permit or any new changes to the permit at least 30 days before the expiration of the permit. While you can stay in Canada when IRCC is processing your application, you can’t start working for another employer when a renewal is required due to any changes to the permit.
Usually, you need to renew the work permit when you change jobs or looking forward to working with a new employer. In that case, you cannot work for any employer until you get the new work permit with the modified details about the work conditions. However, if you have an open work permit, you simply have to extend your permit to work for more days in the country.
Process to Obtain Open Work Permit for Canada
For the renewal of the work permit, you can apply online by providing the e-copies of the required documents and the processing fee for the application. Before that, you must create an account to check your status. Afterward, you get to apply for a new work permit or add changes to the existing one.
You can still maintain status even if Permit has expired abd IRCC is yet to process the same
If your permit expires before IRCC has processed it and provided the result of your application, you can still maintain your status until you hear from IRCC. Similarly, if you have applied for changes to the work permit for a new employer, you can maintain your status and keep working but only for the same employer until you hear from IRCC. However, if you have applied for a study permit or extension as a visitor, you must stop working after its expiration.
