British Columbia PNP Reallocates the Points for NOC Skill Level Into Multiple Factors
After the hit of the COVID-19 pandemic, Canada is attempting to modify its immigration system to maximize the inflow of skilled immigrants who can uplift the economy. British Columbia has changed the PNP point system in the same manner. The changes focus on a combination of human capital and economic factors rather than on the NOC points that are based on the current job offer of the applicant.
New NOC System shall have mix of human capital and economic factors
Just like the Express Entry system that uses a point-based process to calculate the eligibility of the applicant for permanent residency of immigrant, British Columbia PNP also operates according to a point-based system. Earlier, there were points assigned according to the job offer of an immigrant, calculated by following the NOC (National Occupation Classification) skill levels. However, recently this system has been removed, replacing it with an insistence on a mixture of human capital and economic factors.
In this recent change, human capital factors include related work experience, educational qualification, and language proficiency. Moreover, the economic factors include the hourly wage of the job offer and the location of the job. The factor assigned for the location gives more points as you move beyond the metro Vancouver district for employment. In this way, the points assigned for NOC skill levels are reallocated into multiple related factors to maximize the potential of the immigrant’s application for permanent residency.
