The Canadian government sets up the stage for 16 Days of Activism Against Gender-based Violence to improve women’s conditions through tactful planning and investment in their economic growth. As a part of this initiative, Lena Metlege Diab, a Member of Parliament, has recently declared the plan to renew $5.8 million of investment by 2025 that will be utilized for the projects of women’s employment. These projects are supported by the Racialized Newcomer Women Pilot which aims at helping racialized newcomer women land secured jobs in the country for better financial independence.

Moreover, through the Racialized Newcomer Women Pilot, IRCC tackles various race and gender-based discrimination that these women face during their employment as well as the absence of child care and other supports.

At the same time, some of the projects help with the credential recognition processes of newcomer women, finally leading them to the field-specific targeted work environments to develop the necessary skills and adapt to the local ambiance. The recent funding comes in addition to the $15 million that was allocated for these projects in 2021.
