The attorney general of New York wants to change the state laws to make it clear that it’s quite illegal for employers to avenge against workers by threatening to report to the immigration authorities.
the state laws presently prohibit the employers from threatening, firing, penalizing or discriminating against workers who blow the whistle on the wage infringement.
The legislation of Attorney General Letitia James would expand the definition of the law for retaliatory conduct to append threats given to a person regarding the immigration status.
Employers could be sued for three months behind the bars along with a fine of $ 20, 000.
This democrats proposal has been raised after a maid working at the President Donald Trump’s New Jersey golf club reported that she was threatened by a supervisor about being deported if she lodges a complaint about the unfit working conditions.
However, the Donald Trump organization completely denied this fact stating that the woman has brought wrong allegations against the supervisor.
