Australia Assistant immigration minister Alex Hawke announced this latest step. The government, Hawke said, will kick-start new consultations with the public. This will be to inform the introduction of a new five-year Australia temporary visa for aged parents of immigrants.

Speaking about the issue in detail, Mr. Hawke said that reunification of three generations of families does have several societal advantages. So, the new Australia temporary visa is being introduced, he added.

New Australia temporary five-year visa effective July 2017--The government shall have wide consultations to have better options for this visa. The visa shall become effective on 1^st July, 2017. The current Australia visa scheme is not efficient, admitted Mr. Hawke. He acknowledged that the wait times in the current Australia visa scheme are sometimes 30 years.

Current Australia visa process for parents of Australian citizens or Australia permanent residents is available in two streams. One is ‘non-contributor’ visa and second is ‘contributor visa’. The first one takes nearly 18-30 years for getting processed. It costs nearly $7,000.

The second one, that is Australia ‘contributor visa’ takes about two years for getting processed by paying $50,000.

New Australia temporary visa aimed to improve arrangement for parents of Australians—Aim of the new Australia temporary visa is to improve arrangement for parents of Australians(Australian citizens or Australian permanent residents). This will help in immigrants’ parents spend time with their families in Australia, he further clarified.

Hence, Mr. Hawke has asked the migrant communities to take part in the consultation process for best designing of temporary sponsored Australia parent visa. Feedback of migrant communities is of great significance for assisting in the visa designing process, he maintained.
