How to Apply for Sub-Category Occupations In-Demand

Under the International Skilled Worker – Occupations In-Demand sub-category of the Saskatchewan Immigrant Nominee Program (SINP), the Saskatchewan province of Canada got 1200 new applications. The applications in this sub-category were received on a first-come, first-served basis. The sub-category is not inclined with the federal Express Entry immigration selection system.

Apply for Sub-Category Occupations In-Demand Procedure

After an application is accepted, a provincial nomination certificate will be issued. After that, the applicant, along with his/her accompanying spouse/common-law partner and any dependent children, if any, will be eligible to file an application to Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) for PR(permanent resident status).

This is the third intake period of 2017.

ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA to Apply for Sub-Category Occupations In-Demand:

The following are the criteria which a citizen must fulfill in order to be eligible under the sub-category Occupations In-Demand:

•    For current Canadian residents, there must be a proof of their legal status

•    A minimum language score of Canadian Language Benchmark (CLB) 4

•    Must have completed a minimum period of 1 year of post-secondary education or training as per the Canadian education system and the study program must have resulted in a degree, diploma, or certificate

•    A minimum one year of experience in paid work in a skilled occupation(NOC 0, A, or B) which is in-demand in Saskatchewan, in the past ten years in any field related to his/her education or training

•    Must have obtained an eligibility proof for Saskatchewan licensure in case their profession is regulated in for Saskatchewan and need certification

•    Proofs regarding settlement funds and settlement plans

•    A minimum score of 60/100 on the point assessment grid

IN-DEMAND OCCUPATIONS:

There have been some revisions to the list of the in-demand occupations. Facility operation and maintenance managers (NOC code 0714) have been removed, while Geological and mineral technologists and technicians (NOC 2212) were added to the list.

NO REQUIREMENTS FOR LICENSURE:

As per the new list, for 19 out of 42 occupations no professional licensure is required. Anyone having work experience in any of these occupations can apply to the SINP and receive a nomination certificate without having to obtain a professional license.

PROFESSIONAL LICENSE REQUIREMENT to Apply for Sub-Category Occupations In-Demand:

For successful processing of the immigration application, certain applicants need to apply for a professional licensure. This process can be carried out from outside Canada as well.

The applicant who submits an application without including valid licensure proofs, in any of these occupations, is liable to be held for processing until he/she provides the proof. It must also include all the other mandatory documents. If the applicant fails to do so, the application will be returned to the applicant, and besides the CAD $300 government processing fee may not be refunded.

The licensure obtaining process is dependent upon the occupation and some other factors, like the professional and/or academic background of the applicant. There may be a delay in the expected time for the approval of the application, which can be due to many reasons. These include cases like when the organization in question needs to wait for a third party, or for sending additional necessary documents like transcripts.

The intake periods last for a few days or less, in this category. Keeping in mind the first-come, first-served scenario, it is advisable for the applicants to keep all the mandatory documents ready and reviewed beforehand.
