Changes to Nova Scotia Provincial Nominee Program—Several changes to Nova Scotia Provincial Nominee Program have been announced. Yes, that’s right. Canada affirmed changes to Nova Scotia Provincial Nominee Program(PNP).

Nova Scotia PNP enables prospective immigrants having skills and experience needed in this province. Nova Scotia issues Provincial Nominate Certificate. This fast tracks the immigration process for applicants.
Three streams for Nova Scotia PNP—There are three streams for Nova Scotia PNP. Applicants can apply for any of these. It needs to be worth notable that Regional Labor Market Demand Stream does not need any job offer for applicants. However, it needs experience in any of the targeted occupations in Nova Scotia.
The Skilled worker stream allows applications from job offer holder in Nova Scotia. Low-skilled, semi-skilled and skilled workers are eligible in this stream.
The Family Business Worker accepts applicants having got an offer of employment from any close family member living in Nova Scotia.
Annual cap—Well, there is an annual cap of 700 immigrants each year. This is through the NSNP. The province has asked for increasing the annual cap. The immigration streams of Nova Scotia allow around 2,500 immigrants each year.
As per the proposal by Nova Scotia Commission on Building Our New Economy, Nova Scotia must get new 7,000 permanent residents annually. Replying to this, the parliamentary secretary to Immigration Minister Chris Alexander, Costa Menegakis, said there is a plan of how foreigners will get accepted each year.
It needs to be worth mentioned that the allocations are under the federal government. So, raising annual caps for specific provinces does take away allocations from other immigration streams.
The federal government is unlikely to increase the PNP allocation in Nova Scotia. The details shall be revealed this fall.
