A Canadian Woman was Detained by U.S. Border Guards for 5 hours!

A woman based out of  Vancouver was held for hours and denied to enter the United States of America without any reason. Finally, she could not cross the border. According to the lawyers, this situation is becoming really common these days.

De Vos was heading to Seattle in Washington to meet her Godfather with her partner when this incident happened.

Without any Reason, Woman was Detained for 5 hours by U.S. Border Guards

After interviewing her for 5 hours, she was denied the entry to the USA and she was asked for a visa which was generally not mandatory for Canadain at the After nearly five hours, a border patrol officer told her she was denied entry at land border crossings — to gain entry in the united states again.

De Vos was unable to understand the reason of denial as she had no criminal record or any history of problems while entering the USA. Also, she said the denial was only for her and her partner was allowed. But, then both of them decided to turn back and return to Vancouver.

She also stated that the border guards asked them for their cell phones and wallets. She said it was quite frustrating as the reason was unknown.

She also explained that now it is easier to say but it was a scary situation being detained for hours.

Lawyers say on Canadians being denied entry into the USA

Lawyers have been reported saying that Canadians are being denied entry into the USA. There is definitely something wrong which wasn’t seen earlier. Mark Belanger working with Border Solutions Law Group expressed his belief.

He also expressed that in such conditions, the simplest thing for people to do is to refuse the entry themselves than suffer the torture.

De Vos has not visited her family and friends in the USA since then and is afraid of the detainment again.
