IRCC Held the Second Express Entry Draw of 2023 Inviting 5,500 Candidates

Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) recently organized its second Express Entry draw of 2023 where it issued invitations to apply (ITA) for 5,500 candidates. For this draw, the minimum required Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) score was 490. Since Express Entry consists of programs like the Federal Skilled Worker Program (FSWP), the Canadian Experience Class (CEC), and the Federal Skilled Trades Program (FSTP), the candidates were invited from all of these programs.

IRCC held its first Express Entry draw on January 11, also inviting 5,500 candidates to apply. Although the draws are happening in consecutive weeks, there seems to be a drop in the CRS score cut-off. The First draw required a minimum CRS score of 507. This time, too, the score was declared to be 507 initially, although it was modified to 490 later. These Express Entry draws are held usually on Wednesdays every two weeks.

Starting with 11,000 ITAs in the first two weeks of the year, IRCC has recorded the fastest start to Express Entry draws which is expected to welcome a lot more foreign workers into the country throughout the year. Moreover, meetings have been held to discuss updating the selection process where other categories will be given preference over solely depending on the CRS score of the applicant.
