Amazon On Hiring Spree; Tries to Woo Employees With Attractive Bonuses

Amazon on hiring spree

Amazon on hiring spree

Amazon is on a hiring spree. The conglomerate is even offering big bonuses to woo employees who have been vaccinated for COVID 19. The job listing is for the delivery drivers and warehouse workers who are involved in packing and shipping orders. While the demand for online deliveries has increased during the corona pandemic, logistics is facing a big issue due to a shortage of manpower. And that is why Amazon has decided to offer bonuses to attract employees in such a tight situation.

Amazon Gears Up For Its Prime Day, To Hire 75,000 Employees

Amazon is planning to hire 75,000 employees including 100 new hires. These Amazon jobs will pay $15 per hour. The company raised the hourly pay for the workers last month and now the new hires will be getting around $17 per hour pay on an average. According to reports, the US-based company is hiring employees in huge numbers as it is gearing up for its Prime Day that occurs next month.

Prime Day is the most popular sales event for Amazon which is why the company wants to ensure that it has the required workforce in hand to meet the demand when it increases next month. While the global conglomerate is yet to say anything about facing a workforce shortage, many global companies have already voiced their concern about the same.

Amazon To Hire New Employees For 14 States in the US

As the US business houses once again start rolling out the products across the borders, they are now facing a shortage of manpower mostly because many fear getting infected by a coronavirus. Other issues that the workforce is facing are less payment and childcare. Due to the pandemic, most of the children are at home, and workers cannot leave their children and join work.

Big companies are also facing financial issues and hence the payment they are offering is comparatively less than what they used to pay the delivery drivers and warehouse workers. However, Amazon and other companies like McDonald’s, Chipotle have already announced a hike in payment to lure their workers back.

The company’s $1000 sign-on bonus offered to new hires is a part of its strategy to attract new employees who will contribute to the business during Prime Day.  The Amazon jobs are available in 14 states of the US including Georgia, California, Arizona, Maryland, Kentucky, Illinois, New Jersey, Minnesota, Michigan, Wisconsin, Washington, Tennesse, and Pennsylvania.
