QUEBEC’S SKILLED WORKER PROGRAM REACHES UPPER LIMIT: APPLICANTS WITH EMPLOYMENT OFFER CAN STILL APPLY

Skilled Worker program in Quebec has reached its upper limit, but there is still a scope for potential applicants to try their luck out.

Applications are accepted form those applicants who have acquired an employment offer from a Canadian employer. And this can be done through Federal Skilled Worker Program. This program is open in the entire province so the country allowing immigrants to apply even if some of the programs have been closed because they have reached their capping limit.

Programs that is still open
Federal Skilled Worker program is certainly a big option, apart from Quebec Immigration Program. One can apply under this program if he or she has received a letter of employment or at least offer letter from an employer in Quebec.

However, the applicants must meet the criteria of proficiency in English or French apart from meeting other requirements.

Criteria for assessing an application

While considering an application submitted under Federal Skilled Worker Program, Government would look into the potential contribution that an applicant can make to the economic growth of the country, if and when he is allowed to be here.

An applicant must obtain a mark of 67 through his credentials and other requirements he is expected to meet, for qualifying under this program. Those who don’t have any arranged employment offer can also apply under this category, provided they suit the job market requirements.

Capping of the program
Federal Skilled Worker Program has been capped to the number of 25,000 across 50 different occupations. But, the capping is not applicable to those who have an arranged employment in the form of full time, permanent job offer from an employer in the country.
Those who have completed PhD from a recognized Canadian institution would also not be covered under this cap.

Waiting till the next cycle
Attorney David Cohen says that the door to Canada is not closed but the route may become more complicated now. He also adds that applicants can always wait till the next time the program reopens for accepting applications.

The new set of applications would begin to get accepted from first day of April in 2015.

With the reopening of the program, one should be prepared to learn new rules and regulations too. And this is of course not the only option for coming to Canada. There are about 60 on-going Immigration programs in Canada.

Applicants wait for the reopening of a program so that they can submit their applications and wait for a chance to enter Canada. With the programs reaching their capping stage, applicants who do not make it this time, have to wait for the next time and need to be better prepared. However, Canada provides various options for making applications, one need to explore them and apply following the criteria. Only then the chances of entering this prosperous country would get brighter and bolder for the applicant immigrants.
