AN IMMIGRANT’S FATE OF GETTING MARRIED TO A CANADIAN CITIZEN

Those who intend to marry a Canadian citizen have to follow certain rules. One cannot marry a Canadian citizen if one has entered Canada on Tourist visa. In fact, marrying while you are still on tourist visa would be considered to be fraud case by CIC.

Chances of getting deported
If you are under the impression that you can avoid getting deported only if you marry a Canadian citizen or you can gain access to become a citizen yourself, then you are mistaken.

If you dot follow the rules and marry a citizen of this country then there is a high probability that you would be deported back to your home country.

Marrying while on Travel Visa
A travel visa would allow you to stay in Canada for 6 months; you can use it only once and cannot stay beyond the motioned period. This kind of a visa would not give you access to getting a job, here or going to school or even sending your children to school or even visiting a doctor if you fall sick.

If you leave Canada then you have to apply for another Travel Visa and become eligible to come here.

If you wish to become a Permanent resident of the country then you have to make a separate the possibility application so that you can stay here permanently.

The ways to get married
The doors would not be closed absolutely; you can always try out following ways to get married legally.
Sponsorship
The Canadian Citizen can sponsor the foreigner spouse. Here you need to meet a series of requirements. The sponsor will have to prove and submit enough documents to state that he or she would be financially taking charge of this new entrant in the country. The sponsor needs to meet income criteria to prove his or her ability to support the person one is getting married to. Be sure that you submit more than required document to prove your affordability. In this case the minimum wait time would be for at least 9 months which could get even extended longer.

Inland PR
You can make an application for getting a “Permanent residency Status” and then to get a work permit. The entire process may take almost 6 months’ time for the sponsor to get approved and an additional 8-10 months would be needed for the applicant to get an approval.
Outland PR
In this category, the application for PR would be processed outside Canada. The most advisable option would be to choose an office of the place; the applicant holds a passport from. It may take a month for the sponsor to get an approval and the rest of the process follows.

If you wish to marry a Canadian Citizen then you need to explore possibilities for the same. When you fail to meet the various requirements, you may face deportation and your marriage would also be regarded illegal in the country.
