Increase in undocumented immigration in Canada by 2015

This will be due to an increased number of expiry of Canada work permits of foreign workers in Canada.

Undocumented immigration surge likely—Canada’s immigration change introduced in April, 2011 will lead to an increase in the number of undocumented immigrants staying in Canada by the year 2015.

As per the rule, a foreign worker having come to Canada for working here cannot stay here for a period extending four years while on being a Canada temporary work visa.

So, the new immigration rules for Canada temporary foreign workers will make nearly 199,000 such foreign workers having arrived in Canada in 2012 as undocumented immigrants. This will be due to the fact that their Canada work permits will be valid until March 2015 after which the work permits will expire.

Canada will see an increased number of temporary foreign workers overstaying their Canada work permits in April 2015 due to a recent change introduced in immigration laws.

Immigration change aimed to reduce increased dependence on foreign workers—The immigration change enacted by Canada immigration department in April 2011 is aimed to significantly cut increasing reliance of Canada employers on temporary foreign workers.

Now days, more and more employers resort to recruit foreign workers through TFWP(Temporary Foreign Worker Program) for fulfilling their permanent labor requirements, states Citizenship and Immigration Canada(CIC).

As per the CIC figures, the figures show a rise to 300,000 from 100,000 temporary foreign workers coming to Canada through TFWP. And this increase means many Canadians may be left without jobs.

So, the new ruling is aimed to limit the time a temporary foreign worker can spend in Canada.

Immigration change means increased undocumented immigrants--However, its being felt by many that such a ruling will compel many immigrants with expired Canada work permits to keep staying in Canada unlawfully in 2015. So, Canada will have to tackle with another concern, that is, undocumented immigrants in the nation.

It is being estimated that majority of such undocumented immigrants(that is, those whose Canada work permits get expired in April 2015), will be in Toronto, Vancouver and Montreal. And these undocumented aliens will be straining public services in Canada.
