An inhuman sight- “a Chinese immigrant chopped off the victim into pieces and ate him up”.

Vince Weiguang Li, a forty year old immigrant faces a second-degree murder charge. Last week, this Chinese immigrant stabbed, gutted and beheaded a fellow passenger on a bus while traveling across Canada. He also cannibalized the victim and pocketed his nose, lips and his ear.

The victim has been identified as Tim McLean by his friends. The man is 22-year old and he was returning from his job to his home in Winnipeg. He was employed as a carnival worker in Edmonton in Western Canada.

In his second court hearing, Li was heard saying “please kill me”. Prosecutors said that when the police surrounded the bus on a deserted highway, they saw him eating pieces of victim. Li had cut off the victim’s head, sliced off one of his ear, and bite his flesh. He was pointing at the police and the bystanders showing them the head. He refused to leave the bus and was shouting that he has to stay on the bus forever, the Crown said.

According to the reports, when Li attacked him, McLean was asleep with his cheek pressed against the window of the bus. Li attacked him with a “big Rambo knife”. According to a witness, Garnet Caton, the 34 passengers and the driver were shaken with the blood-curdling screams and they all fled from the bus, bracing the door while moving out in order to catch the assailant inside the bus.

Prosecutor Joyce Dalmyn said that McLean was stabbed around 20-40 times. Li was subdued by the police after three hour when he tossed scissors and knife out of the broken window of the bus and jumped out. Dalmyn said that police found several parts of the victims face in his pocket.

According to reports, Li mostly worked alone. For example, he worked as a church custodian and delivered newspapers, since he arrived in Canada in 2004. People who knew Li said that they observed signs of him being mentally unstable but he refused to take any help.

Li did not speak in the court and only gave answers as yes or know using his head. For instance, when the judge asked him whether he was aware of seriousness of the charge, he nodded ‘yes’ and when the judge asked him if he wants a lawyer, he shook his head signaling ‘no’.

At the end, the judge ordered a psychiatric evaluation of Li before September eight, his next scheduled court hearing.
