Ludhiana, August 14: PUNJAB Police (PP), Jalandhar Cantt defeated JCT Football Academy (JCT FA), Phagwara by 2-0 in the third match of the 19th Punjab State Super Football League being played at P.A.P. Football Ground, Jalandhar Cantt.
In the 44th minute of the first half, Anwar of PP crossed the entire JCT FA defense from the right side of the ground and kicked the ball towards the goal keeper, who was standing near the goal post. The goal, though, was saved by the goal keeper but he could not collect the ball properly and gave a rebound to Harjinder Singh of PP who capitalised the opportunity by scoring the first goal.
The second goal of the match came in the 70th minute of the second half when Gurpreet Singh of PP, fastly moving towards the JCT FA goal, showed some excellent piece of footwork by beating the entire defense of JCT FA from the right side and gave an excellent pass to Harjinder Singh who netted the ball and increased the lead for his team. This move of PP was completely misread by the JCT FA defenders which resulted in a goal.
JCT FA forwards tried their level best to score by throughout the match, the alert defense of PP did not give them any open chance.
