The Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) has recently announced the current data regarding the improvement of the immigration backlogs which amounted to 2.3 million. The data as of November 30 shows that the backlog has been reduced to 2.2 million. At the same time, the citizenship inventory has come down to 3,14,630 from last month’s 3,31,401 applicants, suggesting the IRCC’s conviction in clearing the clutter that was caused mainly during the COVID-19 pandemic.
Moreover, not only the permanent residence inventory has dropped to 5,12,342, the temporary residence inventory has witnessed a sharp fall from 15,37,566 to 14,16,125 applicants as of December 2.
Alongside this kind of efficiency by the IRCC to clear our different kinds of immigration applications, there has been an immense surge in the Express Entry applications from 39,589 to 43,326.
According to data released by the IRCC, compared to the last year’s record of 2.3 million, this year from January to October, a total of 4.3 million decisions have been made for applicants of permanent residence, temporary residence, and citizenship. The goal is to have less than 50% backlog in all kinds of immigration and citizenship processes, states the IRCC.
