Canada has seen enough immigration delays thanks to Covid. This year in 2021, the government targets to call in at least 401,000 immigrants. Around one fourth of this number will be eligible to enter via the Express Entry System. The department of immigration is starting out solid enough—more than half way into this year. Earlier this year, the IRCC or Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada had held an Express Entry draw with a very low requirement for CRS, of 75.
Understanding the Express Entry Program
The candidates needed to confirm to the criteria for CEC or Canadian Experience Class for receiving an invitation. The Express Entry program is not very predictable but in 2021, close to 108,500 newcomers can be eligible to enter Canada via this program.
Certain travel restrictions are still in place in Canada and the risk of entering the express entry pool right now is, in absence of receipt of an ITA within the next couple of years, you will stand the risk of invalidating your official language test. Then again, entering the pool is a much-needed initiative to at least begin targeting ITA receipt. The test can be retaken with a minimal expense. This is a major feature of the Express Entry program. The February draw mentioned earlier in the article was held without prior announcement. It saw massive absorption as well as a historic low CRS cut off.

Plus Account Eligibility
Despite all the uncertainty around the Express Entry Program, being part of Express Entry makes you eligible for creating a Plus Account in the job bank of the government, this enhances your chances at employment. This can make you gain anything from 50 to 200 points on the CRS card.
Eventually, IRCC will open up all its does for the Express Entry program. Entering now will at least put you into the pool and aid to gain early benefits. If at all, a draw is held again, that is!
