Temporary Resident Visa Canada – What is it?

The Temporary Resident Visas Canada is a visa category for those people who wish to stay in the country for a short duration, generally about 6 months or lesser. The reasons could be varied, for instance, business, tourism, family visit, etc. You can stay for the period and the purpose that you have applied for. In case you get a study program that is for 6 months or lesser, you can attend it, however, the same has to be specified in the application. 

Eligibility Criteria 

There are specific criteria that have to be met in order to be eligible for the Canadian Temporary Resident visa:

  1. You have to be 18 years old in order to apply as the main visa applicant.
  2. You must hold a valid passport issued by the government with a minimum of one blank page (this should not be the last page though of your passport).
  3. All the documents must be translated and certified (if they are not in English or French).
  4. You must have a clean criminal history and court documents must be submitted to prove it.
  5. You have to pay the fees for visa application and processing.
  6. The required documents have to be signed and affixed with the right date.
  7. The Consent form of the Visa Application Center (VAC) has to be filled and signed.
  8. Copies of the current immigration status in Canada or any other country must be submitted.
  9. You must have sufficient funds for your stay.
  10. You have to be prepared for an interview or provide biometric information.
  11. In case required by the Canadian Consulate, you will have to undergo a medical examination.
  12. You have to prove that the stay is temporary and you intend to return back to your home country
  13. You have to prove that working or studying in Canada is not your aim.

Canadian Temporary Resident Visas – The Types

  1. Visitor Visa –  The Canada Tourist Visa allows you to visit Canada for the purpose of tourism.
  2. Super Visa – This is for either parents or grandparents of either the Canadian Citizens or the Permanent Residents and is given for a long period, about 2 years.
  3. Diplomatic and Official Visa – This if for the diplomats or the government officials of foreign countries.
  4. Courtesy Visa – It is for individuals other than diplomats or government officials, however, they hold some rank.
  5. Facilitation Visa – It is for individuals who are citizens of Canada having dual nationalities. This visa enables them to enter Canada with the passport of the second nationality that they hold.
  6. Business Persons Visa and Business Delegations Visa –  This is meant for business people who are visiting Canada with the aim of conducting business, or attending workshops, etc.
  7. Persons who intend to enter Canada with the aim of giving birth – This is given to those women who intend to give birth in Canada, as any child who is born in Canada will be considered a citizen of Canada.
  8. Intending Organ Donors Visa – This visa is for individuals who wish to donate their organs to a Permanent Resident of Canada or a citizen of Canada.
  9. The Dual Intent Visa – This visa is for individuals who wish to reside temporarily in Canada, however, they also wish to apply for the permanent visa and this is claimed in their application.
