New Zealand Sees Growth in eVisa Frauds

One of the latest electronic visa systems that are being used in New Zealand has been proved to be prone to attempts of frauds. The immigration bodies have noted an increase in fake and doctored eVisa letters.

According to a report, officials have been investigating a Kiwi employer on the claims that they have been modifying the details of migrant workers in their eVisa letters.

The latest electronic visa system that has been by INZ includes sending tourists, workers, or international students A4 pieces of paper that have all the immigration details of the applicant. The issue with these papers is that can be easily forged. 

The assistant general manager of INZ compliance and border operations, Peter Devoy, stated that if the system will have to be changed if it is shown to be quite open to exploitation.

As per the Immigration New Zealand, the count of confirmed visa applications that have misleading information, like fraudulent bank accounts, fraudulent qualifications or even funds having no clarity on their origin, and fraudulent work experience, had shot up by 88% in the year 2018.
