TOEFL test takers up in India
As per the information, its not just India, TOEFL test takers have gone up in other nations as well in the recent months.
TOEFL test takers up in India—There has been an increase of around seven percent in the number of TOEFL test takers in India in the year 2012 over the previous year. While the number of female test takers of TOEFL(Test of English as a Foreign Language) has been 33 percent, the number of males is said to be 67 percent in the year 2012.
TOEFL test takers, as per the figures for the year 2012, represented 180 nations. Majority of TOEFL test takers(around 90 percent) were able to get into their top or second choice or college or university. A large number of Indian students have been meeting their educational targets after taking the TOEFL test for last 45 years or so, reveals CEO and Vice President of ETS’ Global Division, David Hunt.
Taking a clue from the increased popularity of TOEFL among student fraternity, more testing centres are being planned to be added in India, adds Hunt.
Reasons behind TOEFL test’s popularity—Soaring global popularity of TOEFL test can be attributed to several factors. First is that TOEFL test is accepted widely at increasingly high numbe of institutes for English langauge assessment.
As per the figures, more than 130 nations(around 8,500 institutes) accept this test making it a hit among students. TOEFL test happens to be one of the most inexpensive test. And another factor is that TOEFL test gets completed in just half a day.
And seeing the growing popularity of TOEFL test, Australian immigration department-DIAC(Department of Immigration and Citizenship) has given approval to the TOEFL test in th year 2011 for the purpose of Australia student visas.
TOEFL test—TOEFL test is in two modes including PBT(Paper Based Test) and IBT(Internet Based Test). It is meant for examining the ability of the candidate for using English language at the university level. It focuses on the writing, speaking, understanding and writing as well as English grammatical skills of the applicant.
While the PBT Test format comprises of questions on reading comprehension, test of writter English, listening, writtern expression and structure, IBT Test checks English langauge ability at unversity level.
