Recent immigrants and ethnic community organizations in Canada will attend a meeting today in town hall where they will get the opportunity to share their experiences regarding fake immigration consultants and other unlawful representatives.
Recent immigrants and ethnic community organizations in Canada will attend a meeting today in town hall where they will get the opportunity to share their experiences regarding fake immigration consultants and other unlawful representatives.
Minister of Citizenship, Immigration and Multiculturalism, Jason Kenney said that he would like to hear from people who have been victimized by immigration scams.
Kenney said that he is aware of the fact that there are many god consultants and representatives to assist immigrants for every bad representative and consultant. But, he said, he wants to listen from people who have been through and suffered from such fake practices and wants to know about the false promises that fake agents and representatives give them. He said that with the help of this, they will be in a better position to determine the nature and scope of this problem and implement a proper plan to prevent such frauds.
This meeting follows the national advertising campaign which was launched in March and which included a video warning in multiple languages in order to inform prospective immigrants about the way they need to protect themselves from false claims and fake immigration consultants or immoral representatives. A similar town hall meeting will soon be held in Vancouver as well.
Citizenship and Immigration Canada will also be launching online consultations which are aimed to seek experiences of people who have worked with immigration consultants and other representatives. To find out the way to be protected from immigration-related fraud, just visit the CIC website and watch the warning video.
