Announcing the appointment Thursday of Michael L. Ducker, president, International of FedEx Express, to its board of directors, USIBC said he had worked on this very objective for the last two years.

Ducker's expertise in the Asia Pacific region will contribute significantly to the Council's continued success, it said. Previously, Ducker served as president of the Asia Pacific region for FedEx Express.

In January 2003, he was appointed by President George W. Bush as one of three business people to represent the US on the APEC Business Advisory Council, an adjunct to the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation.

At FedEx, Ducker is currently charged with setting strategy and overseeing business operations for the company's four international regions, as well as its US export business.

"Mike Ducker brings an invaluable perspective to the US-India Business Council as a result of his vast experience with FedEx Express, the world's largest express transportation company," said Council Chairman Charles 'Chip' Kaye.

"The Council will benefit greatly from his leadership, and we look forward to working with him to fulfil our mission of promoting economic reforms in India to deepen trade and commercial ties," he added.
