The Punjab and Haryana High Court bench of Justices Mehtab Singh Gill and Baldev Singh finished hearing the arguments of the defence and prosecution.

Sidhu, accompanied by former law minister and his Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) colleague Arun Jaitley and a battery of top lawyers from New Delhi and Chandigarh, was taken into the court as soon as he arrived.

There was heavy security in and around the court premises.

The former MP from Amritsar was Friday convicted of culpable homicide not amounting to murder for causing the death of 65-year-old Gurnam Singh in Patiala town in a road rage case in 1988.

His friend R.S. Sandhu was also convicted for the same offence.
