"I am offering my resignation as it is my moral duty and sent it to both the BJP president and L.K. Advani. I have also sent my resignation to the Lok Sabha speaker," the 43-year-old MP from Amritsar told reporters here.
"I am not bothered about the quantum of punishment and other technicalities if I have to move the Supreme Court. I am more concerned about the morality and ethics," he said.
Sidhu was charged with culpable homicide not amounting to murder for causing the death of Gurnam Singh during a street scuffle in 1988.
"It is up to the party leadership to decide on my resignation. I have done what I think is right," said Sidhu.
