Islamabad -- Over 12,000 Sikh pilgrims from across the world, including India and Britain, gathered at Nankana Sahib in Pakistan to mark the 538th birth anniversary of the founder of Sikhism, Guru Nanak Dev.

The three-day festivities in the Punjab province that ended with a 'palki' (palanquin) procession at Gurdwara Janam Sthan, the place where Guru Nanak was born, brought together Sikhs from India, the US, Britain, Canada, the UAE and many other countries.
A large number of the pilgrims arrived from India via the Wagah border check post for the final day's celebrations, The Nation newspaper said in a report from Sheikhupura, Punjab.
The celebrations took place amidst tight security, the report said.
