A section of the students had a scuffle with the university security staff as they took the ailing law department student, Charanpreet Kaur, from her hostel room on the campus and admitted her to a private hospital in the city.
After Charanpreet had complained of chest pain and uneasiness Sunday night, the hostel warden was informed and the university medical officer examined her. However, the warden refused to give permission to her fellow students to shift her to a private hospital.
The students Monday protested against the apathy of the warden and university officials for not shifting the ailing student to a private hospital even after she fell unconscious.
Vice chancellor Jai Rup Singh later set up a committee to find out if there had been any delay on part of the university officials in taking care of the student.
