New Delhi:-An FIR has been registered against two RJD leaders in Buxar district of Bihar for violating the model code of conduct even as party supremo Lalu Prasad has come under the scanner for allegedly addressing a rally after permitted time.
Dumraon sub-divisonal officer V N Thakur said that an FIR was lodged against Buxar district RJD vice-president Kashi Nath Prasad and secretary Mukhtar Singh for holding a meeting beyond the permitted time.
The meeting was organised by local RJD workers which was to be addressed by Prasad and others at Dumraon.
The administration granted permission for holding the meeting by 10.00 pm.
But when the SDO heard the loud speaker blaring beyond the permitted time, he asked K K Puri, the magistrate deployed at the venue, to sound an alarm and ensure that the loud speaker was switched off.
Puri acted swiftly and got the loud speaker switched off at 10.30 pm. By then Prasad had not arrived, Thakur said.
The magistrate lodged the FIR with Dumraon police station against Kashi Nath Prasad and Mukhtar Singh, on whose request the administration had granted permission to hold the meeting.
"Lalu Prasad arrived at the venue at 11 pm and left after holding talks with local party workers," Thakur said, adding "We are sending a detailed report on the development to the Election Commission."
However, some media reports alleged that, despite the magistrate's warning, Prasad delivered his speech in violation of the model code.
