The erstwhile Kapurthala city of Punjab state was the former capital of princely state of British India.

The park, the construction work of which will be finished in eight months, will be divided into two divisions-outdoor and indoor- and built at a cost of Rs. 4 crore.

Director General, PGSCK, Dr RS Khandpur, says the environment of that era-in which dinosaurs dwelled, will be created by growing shrubs of that age. The plants that are not available currently will be created synthetically.

In the indoor gallery, pre-dinosaur, dinosaur and post-dinosaur epochs will depict the development process, informs Dr Khandpur. Forty life-size models of extinct terrestrial reptiles of the Mesozoic era-dinosaurs will be kept in the park with the help of a team of experts. Of these full size statues, the biggest dinosaur will be 150-feet long.

About the Energy Park, which is being set up with an investment of Rs. 1.75 crore at the Science City, Dr Khandpur says all varieties of trees accessible in the state will be planted here. In addition, it will have four new galleries-Science and Sports, Ecology and Environment, Health and Biotechnology and Emerging Technologies-set up at a cost of Rs.12 crore.
