Montreal welcomes Irish immigrants, provides jobs

Canada, 26th April: A new program by Montreal group is offering opportunities for successful integration of Irish immigrants.

Montreal seems to be attracting a large number of Irish for getting suitable jobs here since the economy of Ireland is facing a severe economic crisis for quite some time now.

Montreal, the home to speakers of two languages, namely French and English, is welcoming Irish to join them and flourish here.

Immigration is making Montreal a diverse place in North America. With an increase in the number of visas under the working holiday program with Ireland by the Canadian government, Irish immigrants are getting opportunity to live and work in Montreal.

Job scarcity in Ireland--Jobs have been scarce in Ireland since the economic crisis engulfed the nation, says St. Patrick Society, Montreal’s, Michelle Vahey. Many firms in Ireland were compelled to wind up due to downturn. And the remaining companies were not ready to hire any new employees, admits Vahey. That left Irish with no option to explore opportunities abroad, she adds.

Montreal group assists Irish in getting jobs in Montreal—New Irish moving to Montreal are being helped by a new Montreal group. Named the Irish Immigrant Integration Initiative, the program has helped many newcomers to Montreal get jobs here. The group is helping successful settlement of Irish immigrants in Montreal, their new home.

New immigrants from Ireland are being welcomed and it is quite organized, says Catherine McKee, who migrated to Montreal from Ireland in January this year. Having lived in French earlier and having studied French, she aspired to sharpen her linguistic skills. Hence, Montreal attracted McKee to explore French connections. No wonder, she was quite happy to get the job in an IT firm as a receptionist. And she is quick to give the onus to the efforts of the Montreal group for providing her an opportunity to work in Montreal.

Networking event by group for settlement of Irish immigrants--The motive of a networking event organized in February by the Montreal group was to increase interaction between the new immigrants from Ireland with the Irish community residing in Montreal. In addition, the event also provided a platform for the potential employers in Montreal looking for hiring new employees.
