Living standards coming down in Canada due to Mass Immigration

Fraser Institute, also touted as Canada's leading economic think tank, in its latest book released, says that recent mass migration has caused the decline in living standards besides having a negative impact on country's national identity, culture, and social fabric.
Noting that the Canada’s annual rate of intake of immigrants has been one of the highest in the world, the book recommends sweeping changes to immigration, all basically directed on cutting down the immigration. It continues to say that most of the Canadians are not aware of the ill effects of the immigration because of narrow policies of politicians who tend to gain because of this high rate of immigration.
The book discusses at length the economic and social effects that the immigration policies have on the residents of Canada, United States and the social changes brought on by mass immigration and discusses the obstacles that prevent changes to existing immigration policies in Canada and USA.
As against the popular notion the book states that new immigrants are not able to earn more than native born Canadians. Taxes paid by 5 Canadians are required to support the subsidies given to one new immigrant. In addition to this, there are ill effects of continuing conflicts between Canadian society and large numbers of immigrants from different cultures, the book notes.
The book suggests that Canada needs a better process for selecting immigrants, since the costs and problems of immigration are the direct consequence of the present system used to select immigrants. Ideally, the new selection process would bring the range of immigrants' incomes closer to the average incomes of other Canadians.
