More than 90,000 foreign workers are taken into Canada every year to work in a wide range of occupations and industries throughout the country
In order to be allowed to work in Canada, foreign temporary workers need to have a job offer from a Canadian employer and in most cases they also need a temporary work permit from Citizenship and Immigration Canada.
A temporary work permit is a written authorization to work in Canada that is provided from Citizenship and Immigration Canada for a person who is not a citizen of Canada or permanent resident of Canada. Generally, it is issued for a specific job and for a specific length of time.
In addition to this, some foreign workers also require a temporary resident visa in order to enter Canada. However, there is no need to apply for temporary resident visa separately; it is issued to you at the same time when you will receive the documents that are necessary to enter Canada as a temporary worker.
Your prospective might require getting a labour market opinion from the Human Resources and Skills Development Canada (HRDSC) that would confirm that the job can be filled by a foreign worker.
If you want your spouse or common-law partner and dependent children to accompany you to Canada then they also need to apply for permission. However, they do not need to file a separate application. What you need to do is, induce the name and relevant information for family members in your application form for temporary work permit.
