While Canada offers sponsored refugees food and housing assistance for a year; refugees are upset over the transportation bill the government has raised on them. The transportation bill, if under $1200 has to be paid in a year’s time and maximum time allowed for repayment is six years if the bill exceeds $4800. For large families the bill can touch $20,000/-
Strange are the behavior of people. While a country is offering them new home at a place which has been voted as most peaceful place in the earth for multiple number of times besides food and housing assistance running up to a year; the least such lucky people can do is to repay the transportation bill.
These refugees and the Non-profit agencies that help them arrive here are calling upon the government to waive the bill since it would be difficult for the refugees to pay the bill as they have yet to settle. This practice of recovering transportation bill is in place since world war II.
Most of the refugees are sponsored from warn torn countries as Iran, Iraq, who feel reborn after reaching Canada.
Canadian Government is under intense pressure to waive the bill.
