The scandal has been exposed by the Uttar Pradesh special task force which received information at around 4:30 p.m. on Saturday evening that the question papers were being sold in the market and sent a decoy to procure the papers .As said by STF senior superintendent of police Mr SK Bhagat“Four persons were intercepted around 1.30 a.m. today and we were able to get hold of the papers, which contained 150 questions,” he said. The verification was done after the test started”
The investigations revealed that the sequence of the questions in the two papers were different but the questions were more or less the same .The police officials also recovered the hand written answer key of the question paper being sold in the market.The question papers of the examination being held for 10,000 railway posts were being sold Rs 1.5 to Rs 2 lakh each .The STF has arrested eighteen railway officials following the preliminary investigations including a chief ticket inspector.
The Northern Railway Divisional Railway Manager V.K. Gupta doubting the chances of the leakage to originate at the capital said “leakage stemming from the state capital appeared remote as the question papers reached here only last evening,” For the time being a report has been sent to the Railways headquarters for taking a decision on fixing fresh dates.
