Rabid cat kills man in Himachal

Shimla -- A man bitten by a house cat in a Himachal Pradesh village has died of full-blown rabies.

Sunder Singh, 60, of Salwala village in Sirmaur district, 150 km from here, died Sunday, a few weeks after a domestic cat had clawed and bitten him at several places.

Panic has struck the area as the culprit cat had attacked others and cannot be traced, media reports here said. The result is that many cats are being hunted and killed as people suspect that other felines in the village might also be infected by the deadly disease.
