At a time when fierce debate is raging all across west whether immigrants should adopt the host country culture or not and how immigrants are contributing to lawless ness in the host country; forcible release of Laibar from Canadian Police custody by Punjabis, principally Sikhs has given enough fodder to this debate.
Supporters in has favor pledged hundred of thousands of dollars in his support, though it could be precisely known who is handling custody of these funds. It is believed that a Gurudwara Management in Surrey is presently holding these funds for Laibar.
Laibar was rendered a paraplegic by an aneurysm while under an immigration removal order. He was about to be deported to India when a huge mob comprising of Indians, mainly ethnic Punjabis swarmed airport and got him released from the custody of Police. Such events are hitherto unknown in the Canadian Society which is largely peace abiding and prefers to stay on right side of the law.
Laibar was taken to a Surrey Sikh temple and it's not known when immigration officials will attempt again to deport him to his native India.
For such behavior, what view would be taken by the White community remains to be seen. In the meanwhile, Harsha Walia, who calls herself a spokeswoman for the South Asian community, called on the federal immigration minister to reverse the removal order and allow Singh to remain in Canada, where she said the South Asian community has agreed to support him. She presses that Laibar has a legal right to stay in Canada because he wasn't under a removal order at the time he became paralyzed, as he was still legally applying to become a refugee.
