Pilot project designed to for improving the skilled visa application process in Canada.
With the growing number of visa applications of people wishing to start a fresh life in Canada, the burden on the government is also getting on top
In order to get over the backlog, the Canadian government has announced plans of a new pilot scheme that will support the process.
Canada is a country bathed and picturesque and scientific landscape, and it is also seen by many as a country that offer a wealth of new and exciting opportunities. On the other hand, Canada is calling out for immigrants and especially skilled immigrants to assist resolve the lacking skills pool and ageing population of the country.
As a part of the greater plan of the immigration department of Canada, it believes that the new pilot project will benefit the country by centralizing the intake of migration applications in the category of skilled migration.
The Canadian government is continuously trying to improve the process of immigration and make the way easier for those visa applicants, who are capable of benefiting the country both socially and economically. The Canadian government has also provided a funding a further $109 million in order to improve the immigration system.
According to the announcement made by Minister for Immigration and Citizenship, Diane Finley, the pilot project will see 30 new trained staff working alongside the already working staff, in a new centralized office in Sydney, Nova Scotia. The centre will offer a faster processing of the visa applications of Canadian skilled migration and it will begin the review of applications in October this year.
Currently, those applicants who wish to work in Canada and believe that they have got the skills to be there can apply using the skilled immigration program. This process in Canada functions in a similar manner to the Tier 1 system in the UK, in which qualification depends upon reaching a threshold of 75 marks under a point based assessment. You might be able to apply for a Canadian visa of an alternative class if you are unable to qualify for this route to permanently live and work in Canada.
Speaking on the new pilot scheme and the logic behind its implementation, Ms. Finley said that this has been implemented to get the people the country needs and it can be done only by processing the applications at a faster rate. She also said that this pilot project is one of the many initiatives that the government is taking to reduce the wait time of applications.
