Bhubaneswar -- A man from Orissa's Keonjhar district was arrested for killing his wife for contesting village council elections against his wishes, police said Saturday.
Arun Dehuri, a resident of Madanpur village in Keonjhar, 400 km from here, was angry with his 23-year-old wife Anjana for having filed nomination papers for elections to the post of village council chief last month.
Despite Dehuri's repeated requests, Anjana refused to withdraw her nomination. Dehuri, 30, then beat her to death with an iron rod Thursday, a police official said.
