New Zealand doctors for restricting trampoline sales

Live Punjab News Service

Wellington -- New Zealand doctors have warned children that jumping for joy can hurt them, a newspaper reported Wednesday.

Doctors at Starship Children's Hospital, Auckland, have called for restrictions on trampoline sales because of the rising number of children being injured while jumping on them, the New Zealand Herald reported.

It said 25 youngsters under the age of 15 were admitted to the hospital last month following an increase in pre-Christmas trampoline sales, compared with 11 injuries in January 2006.

The hospital blamed backyard trampoline use and said they should only be used in areas where children can be formally supervised such as gymnastics clubs.
