Express India reported that around 80 percent of Indian students in Canada are applying for permanent residency.
Mel Broitman, managing director of the Canadian University Application Centre, said during the promotional tour in India that university students have very high chance of gaining permanent residency in Canada of they study in Canada.
Mr. Broitman said that with the success rate of Indian students becoming Permanent Residents in Canada at 99 percent, Canada has today a high population of Indian students. He said that almost 80 percent of the Indian students apply for Permanent Residency after the completion of their studies.
He also said that Indian student population would be useful in meeting the needs of Canadian Immigration, whereby he says 300,000 immigrants are required every year in order to fuel the growing Canadian economy.
Mr. Broitman added that Canada is very actively promoting immigration so that it can increase its population. Currently, it has a population of 32 million people and there is need to increase the population, and so, due to negative population growth rate, Indian students make the best immigrants, he added.
While there is no comparison between the number of students leaving for Canada and those leaving for Australia, the Canadian Universities indicate that Indian students have a much better chance of acquiring permanent residency in Canada than anywhere else in the world. In addition to this, they argue that study expenses in Canada would be much lesser than some other countries and at the same time, living standard in Canada would be higher.
