Live Punjab News Service

Shimla -- A drunk man dragged his mother outside their house in a Himachal Pradesh village and then allegedly slit her throat with a sickle and fled, leaving behind his wailing father, police said.

The incident in Jakhi village of Rohru valley, some 130 km from here, took place late Thursday.

Police said Deepan Lal, 22, apparently attacked his 61-year-old mother Harkali Devi as she urged him to stop drinking. Lal's father Sant Ram, 74, told the police that he tried to rescue his wife but his son threatened to kill him as well.
