Man axes wife, daughter to death

Ranchi -- A man in Jharkhand axed his wife and daughter to death as he suspected his spouse of being unfaithful to him, police said Friday.

Sukra, a resident of Karra block in Ranchi, killed his wife Neeru while she was asleep Thursday.

When their 12-year-old daughter tried to intervene, she too fell victim to her father's rage. She was also axed to death.

Their seven-year-old son escaped his father's wrath and informed the villagers about the incident.

Sukra was overpowered and kept locked in a room until the police arrested him.

Sukra said he killed his wife for continuing an affair with their neighbour despite his repeated warnings.
