According to the transparent new system, students will be required to prove their claim that they have been accepted onto a course which is run by an education institution and the institution should be a UK Border Agency Tier 4 sponsor. The students will also be required to prove that they have the resources to support themselves and will have to send their biometric details to the Embassy/Consulate General.
If after fulfilling all the requirements, a visa is granted, the new rules will permit international students to do part-time jobs of up to twenty hours in a week while their terms are held and can do a full time work when holidays are available. The students can also start any work placement related course.
The process for applying for a General Student visa or a Child Student visa under Tier 4 is quite straight forward and all that is necessary must be done from the country where the student is a legal resident or is a national of that country. In order to ensure a successful application, students will need the following-
1. An active passport/travel document.
2. Students need to get a visa letter from the institution in which they are planning to study. This alone will fetch the student 30 out of 40 points which are needed before the processing of the visa application.
3. If students provide evidence of maintenance funds, 10 points will be allotted and this would make sure that the visa application will be processed.
4. Proof of any qualifications that was taken into account by the sponsoring institute which resulted in the application being accepted for the course.
5. If there are any other documents that support students’ application then it should also be provided if it is relevant.
In the process of filing an application, students will also be required to make an appointment at the British Embassy Hanoi or Consulate General in Ho Chi Minh City and submit their applications there, along with the biometric details i.e. the ten digit finger scan and the digital photograph.
After successfully completing all the steps, the application for visa will be forwarded to Bangkok for processing. It would take between seven to fifteen working days for the completion of the whole process. After that, students will be informed by the British Embassy/Consulate about the date they can collect the passport.
In case any student uses false document, lie or hide valuable information, the UK Border Agency will reject the application and the student may also be banned for 10 years from entering the UK.
