Kenney determined to encourage Canadian immigration from Indian students
Minister of citizenship, immigration and multiculturalism, Jason Kenney, is hoping that his trip to India in the month of January will help in boosting the number of students from India immigrating to Canada.

During his trip, Minister Kenney is due to meet with the Indian government ministers, OCI immigration staff and business people. The trip is primarily intended to strengthen the relationships between Indian and Canada, and it will also involve the minister’s visit to the Canadian visa offices in New Delhi and Chandigarh.
Later, Minister Kenney will visit Mumbai in order to express the country’s condolences for the recent terrorist attack in Mumbai. Following this, he will also visit the Golden Temple, which is a famous, significant religious site in India.
Kenney says that the trip will provide him the brilliant opportunity to think about issues that are put to him by the Indo-Canadian community of Canada. The issue includes encouraging Indian students to study in Canada, taking more effective measures to crack down on fraudulent immigration consultants, and improve links between the businesses of India and Canada.
According to Kenney, the trip to India will celebrate the “shared values” and “historic ties” between India and Canada, and said that the Canadian government has taken unprecedented steps the Indo-Canadian relationship.
At present, the Canadian government is determined to modernize its immigration system in order to enhance its responsiveness to the labor market needs of Canada and make also make the system fairer for applicants.
