Patna -- Japan has agreed to loan Rs.5.8 billion to Bihar for the integrated development of its capital Patna.
According to official sources, the Japan Bank of International Cooperation (JIBC) will provide the loan to take in 2007-08 care of sewerage, water supply and solid waste management projects.
However, the bank refused to help improve Patna's drainage system as it had strong reservations about its success.
According to the agreed plan, JIBC will give approximately Rs.2 billion for water supply projects, Rs.2.5 billion for sewerage projects and Rs.1.2 billion for solid waste management projects.
The Bihar State Jal Parshad had sought Rs.14.8 billion for Patna's integrated development.
