Doha -- Chinese diving diva Guo Jingjing became the most successful female diver in Asian Games history, when she won the women's 3-meter synchronized springboard diving event at the 15th Asian Games.
Guo and Li Ting easily lifted the title by totalling 337.80 points followed by Japanese Misako Yamashita and Ryoko Nishi, who scored 287.40 points at the Hamad Aquatic Centre here Monday.
Guo, a current world and Olympic champion in both individual and synchronised 3m springboard, already has three gold medals from the Busan Asian Games in 2002.
With her new victory in the synchronised event Monday, she has surpassed the former diving queen Gao Min as the most successful female diver in Asian Games history.
"I have never thought about beating any record," said the 25-year-old Guo. "I think the Asian Games means a lot to us."
In her third Asian Games, Guo will not defend her 3m springboard title.
"I don't feel sorry for giving up a third consecutive title. I have competed a lot this year and I need a rest. I'd like younger team mates to have more chance."
Guo added that said she would be preparing for the World Championships in Melbourne in March.
"We have less than three months to go for the worlds, I hope to defend my titles there," she said.
