Punjab cop involved in Canadian immigration racket

A sub-inspector posted at the Punjab Armed Police is being searched by Delhi Police for his alleged involvement in arrangement of visas for four young people to enter Canada without authentic documents. The alleged involvement of the sub-inspector was revealed while the four arrested youths were being questioned by the IGI Airport police on the 2nd of August at the time when they were about to board a Japan Airlines flight with the group of Punjab which was to represent India in British Columbia at the thirteenth World Police Games.

The alleged involvement of the sub-inspector was revealed while the four arrested youths were being questioned by the IGI Airport police on the 2nd of August at the time when they were about to board a Japan Airlines flight with the group of Punjab which was to represent India in British Columbia at the thirteenth World Police Games.

As per sources close to the matter, the four accused youths are residents of Punjab’s Kapusthala and Hoshiarpur. An investigating officer said that they found that none of the four were employee of the Punjab Police. They have been identified as Lakhveer Singh (30), Hardeep Singh (26), Jasvinder Singh (30) and Taranjeet Singh (25). Immigration officials came to know about the fraud before the departure of the fraud.

An officer said that the accused have said that a sub-inspector who is also the basketball team coach named Lakhvinder Singh had taken INR twelve lakh from each of them and provided them visas from Canadian consulates at Chandigarh and Jalandar. The officer added that a case of cheating has been registered against all four of them and assured that the coach will be nabbed very soon.

After investigations were completed, it was revealed that the coach was accompanying the team on the day of departure, but fled after the arrest of the four youths.
