Do not think too much about the immigration reform

We welcomed the announcement of President Barack Obama that he will introduce his immigration reform within a year. He promised the same in his campaign and this certainly came as good news for many, especially for those twelve million illegal immigrants who are living in the United States.
We all hope that the immigration reform is introduced quickly, but each and every person living illegally in the US must keep it in mind that there is still danger that they will be deported and separated from their families. In addition to this, any legislation on immigration reform will have to pass a hot debate and may even fail to get approved in the Congress. But on the brighter side, it is expected that the immigration reform will create a path for undocumented workers to work legally in the US under a guest worker program and may later be eligible for applying for US citizenship.
According to the reports coming out of the White House last Friday, there were indications that the immigration reform might not be among the top priorities this year. A senior White House adviser told reporters that judging by the current scenario it is unlikely that the president will be able to get the legislation passed within his first year in office itself.
White House officials said that it is the worsening economy that is pushing the immigration reform back. And not very long ago, Dick Durbin announced together with Chuck Grassley that reduction must be done in the number of foreign workers working in the US. Not only this, the senators are also asking for reduced numbers of H-1B non immigrant visas.
