“Work” in Canada is defined as an activity for which remuneration is earned. For migration to Canada, the Canadian immigration authorities require a work permit for a limited number of work related activities in Canada.
Initially when you get a work permit, it will always be for a limited period. However, you can always extend it for a longer period.
Another important aspect for immigrants is that the Canadian government cares for them. In fact last week the government announced that it will create a dollar 29 million huge program to redress various unwanted incidents that occurred in the past relating the treatment of immigrants in Canada. For example, there was a Chinese fee tax for all those who wanted to migrate to Canada from china needed to pay.
It is really ironic that the government is doing all this in recognition of the past, where as at the same time it is proposing amendments which will make the immigration rules susceptible to discrimination yet again. According to the new amendments, the ministry will have the power to accept or return immigration forms and hence the process will involve personal will rather than collective, common opinion. Earlier, according to Immigration and Refugee Protection Act (IRPA), everyone who fills up the application for was entitled to have a fair and equal consideration in accordance to the objective of immigration. Now this will not be the case and the final outcome on immigration forms is bound to be biased.
The minister argues that this move is a call of situation as Canada lacks a huge number of skilled workers, and this will help them to select the workers the country needs the most.
